Mamata Banerjee On A Four-Day Visit To Delhi Today, Likely To Meet PM Modi
Mamata Banerjee is also likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi during her Delhi visit.
New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Banerjee is on a four-day visit to New Delhi, reported ANI. She will arrive in Delhi on November 22 and will stay till November 25. Her visit comes just before the winter session of the Parliament is scheduled to commence.
According to ABP News sources, the West Bengal Chief Minister is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the issue of Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction in West Bengal.

Her visit is being seen as an attempt to bring the opposition on the same stage as the winter session is going to start and Assembly elections for five states including Uttar Pradesh are slated to happen next year. It is being speculated she will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi during her visit. This could be her second meeting with Gandhi after she met her in July this year.

Mamata Banerjee's visit to Delhi comes in the backdrop of the arrest of TMC leader Sayani Ghosh by the Tripura Police on Sunday night. The actor-turned-politician was arrested on charges of attempt to murder after she had allegedly disrupted Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Deb Kumar’s meeting on Saturday night, reported PTI. A delegation of TMC workers will also arrive in the national capital to protest against the arrest.
Ghosh was arrested under the Indian Penal Code Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 153A (Promoting disharmony between two groups) as told be Sub-divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Ramesh Yadav, reported PTI.
Recently the Minister of Home Affairs had issued an order stating the extension of BSF’s jurisdiction in the border states including West Bengal. The order had resulted in a tussle between the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
