Karnataka: Amid Third Wave Scare, RT-PCR Negative Reports Mandatory For Tourists Visiting Shivamogga District
The authorities of Shivamogga district have also issued an advisory to hotels to only allow check-in after taking RT-PCR negative reports
Bengaluru: With growing third-wave concerns as the covid caseload increasing in Kerala, Karnataka recently made negative RT-PCR report mandatory for people travelling from Kerala. Kerala on Friday recorded nearly 20,000 Covid cases while Karnataka reported 1,805 new cases in the last 24 hours with 36 fatalities taking the death toll due to Covid in the state to 36,741. Shivamogga district's deputy commissioner KB Sivakumar has issued fresh SOPs of tourists travelling to the district should show their negative RT-PCR reports not more than 72 hours old on their arrival.
The authorities have also issued an advisory to hotels to only allow check-in after taking RT-PCR negative reports.

There were incidents of 38 students, who returned from Kerala, in Karnataka's Hassan district have tested positive for the deadly virus. With these incidents, the authorities have made displaying RT-PCR negative reports mandatory for the students travelling to the district from Kerala. Besides, the Karnataka government has beefed up surveillance in the districts bordering Kerala and Maharashtra. The commuters from these two states into Karnataka are supposed to display negative RT-PCR reports.
