ISKCON Rejects Shemaroo’s Apology And Files A Complaint Against Comedian Surleen Kaur
ISKCON Vice President and Spokesperson Radharamn Das has rejected the apology by Shemaroo Entertainment and is proceeding to file a legal complaint against comedian Surleen Kaur for her 'objectionable' remarks on the organisation
Mumbai: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Vice President and Spokesperson Radharamn Das shared his legal complaint against standup-comic Surleen Kaur and media & entertainment company Shermaroo despite Shemaroo’s apology and statement that they have disassociated with her.
Surleen Kaur in a stand-up video that was published last month made objectionable remarks against the spiritual organization, which was shared across various social media channels and Shemaroo’s website. The video gained a lot of traction in the last couple of days, but due to the uproar, Shermaroo said that they have deleted the video.
Shemaroo in a thread of tweets apologized to ISKCON and lauded the organization for their work during the lockdown of feeding many people during the lockdown.
“We have high regards for all the good work, especially the spiritual and social service, that ISKCON has done over the years to benefit countless people across India and elsewhere. ISKCON's contributions of feeding 5 crore meals during the COVID lockdown is praiseworthy. Further to our unconditional apology to ISKCON community for the comments made by Ms. Surleen Kaur, we have decided to disassociate ourselves from any further involvement with Ms. Surleen Kaur and Mr. Balraj Syal as they failed to meet our standards of public decency.”
In the complaint filed by ISKCON to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, the words of Surleen Kaur was called defamatory and objectionable, stating that there are hidden propaganda and conspiracy to defame Sanatana Dharma.
And as a response to Shemaroo’s tweet, Radharamn Das tweeted.
“We don't accept your apology @ShemarooEnt . We will proceed legally against you, @BalrajSyal & Surleen Kaur. This has become a trend to demean Sanatan Dharma. No more. We will make an example out of this nonsense. Enough is enough.”
