WhatsApp urges users to keep check on FAKE NEWS via advertisement

WhatsApp has urged its users to check for signs which helps one decide if the news is fake; Stating that messages with no sources, which make one angry could be most likely false.

New Delhi:  In order to stop the spreading of false information, which create angst, fear and misunderstanding among people, messaging application WhatsApp released an advertisement on Monday, requesting its users to discourage fake news by cross checking the facts and not re-sharing misleading information. Any message sent on WhatsApp is shared multiple times and within minutes it goes viral. Considering the sensitivity of the application and the nature of messages being spread; WhatsApp appealed its users to Spot news that might be fake, Verify the news with other sources and Help stop the spread of fake news. WhatsApp has urged its users to check for signs which helps one decide if the news is fake; Stating that messages with no sources, which make one angry could be most likely false. Also, the people have been urged to cross check the piece of information on trusted news sites to see its authenticity; and if you find something fake, one must ask people to stop sharing it and verify the fact before sharing it. Several meetings have also held between the Indian government and messaging application over the same, where promises were made that the issue will be dealt with. WhatsApp has also come with several new features where one can find out if a message has been forwarded or self written by someone.
