Weather Update: Thunderstorm Expected In Delhi Today, Northwest India Likely To Witness Rainfall

The national capital is expected to get thunderstorms with rain on Thursday, according to the meteorological service, PTI reported.

New Delhi: The national capital Delhi registered a high temperature of 23.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD).

An isolated hailstorm is also expected across Himachal Pradesh on February 3 and Uttarakhand on February 3-4, according to the IMD.

"The city witnessed moderate fog on Wednesday morning with the minimum temperature being recorded at 11.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average," IMD was quoted by PTI in its report.

The 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 319 at 4 p.m., placing it in the 'very bad' category.

Ghaziabad (339) was likewise classified as having very poor' air quality. The air quality in Faridabad (282), Gurgaon (271) and Greater Noida (300) was classified as 'poor.'

An AQI of zero to 50 is regarded as 'good,' 51 to 100'satisfactory,' 101 to 200'moderate,' 201 to 300 'poor,' 301 to 400'very poor,' and 401 to 500 'severe.'

According to the IMD, the relative humidity was 66% at 5.30 p.m.

The highest and lowest temperatures in the city are expected to be about 19 and 13 degrees Celsius on Thursday, according to the IMD.

On Tuesday, the high temperature was 20.8 degrees Celsius, a bit below typical.

The MeT Department also informed that due to a confluence of lower-level westerlies associated with the Western Disturbance and lower level southeasterlies from the Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha on February 3-4, with the possibility of isolated hailstorm over the region on February 4.
