WB: Scuffle Breaks Out Between TMC, BJP Supporters During Event On Netaji’s Birth Anniversary | Watch

West Bengal BJP vice-president Arjun Singh lashed out at the “goons” of the ruling TMC over the incident.

Bhatpara: A scuffle broke out between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters as stones were allegedly hurled at Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh when he was attending a programme in Bhatpara, West Bengal, on Sunday on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Two cars were vandalised in the clashes in the hotbed of political unrest in North 24 Parganas district, police said, PTI reported.

West Bengal BJP vice-president Arjun Singh lashed out at the “goons” of the ruling TMC over the incident.

“At 10:30 a.m. today, our MLA Pawan Singh had gone to offer tribute to Netaji, when the TMC’s goons attacked him, fired at him, hurled bricks,” said Singh, ANI reported.

“They also attacked me when I reached. Everything was happening in front of the police...my car was broken,” he added.

This comes as the nation is celebrating Parakram Diwas today to mark the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged the Central government to declare Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s birthday as a national holiday.

“We again appeal to the Central Government that Netaji’s birthday be declared a National Holiday to allow the entire Nation to pay homage to the National Leader and celebrate #DeshNayakDibas in most befitting manner,” she tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi will unveil Netaji’s hologram statue at the India Gate in the national capital this evening.

The hologram statue will be replaced by a grand granite statue, which will installed to commemorate Netaji’s 125th birth anniversary and as a part of the year-long celebrations to mark the event.

Till the work for the statue is completed, a hologram statue of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose will be present at the same place.
