WATCH: Zomato delivery boy eats food from ordered packets; company to introduce tamper-proof tapes

Zomato food-tampering incident: In the video that went viral a couple of days ago, a worker was seen eating from the delivery packets, while sitting on his scooty.

New Delhi: In the wake of the viral video of a Zomato food delivery guy eating food from delivery boxes for customers went viral, the online food delivery company has announced introduction of tamper-proof tapes for its packets as a counteractive step. In a statement, Zomato admitted that the video was shot in Madurai and the person stealing food from the ordered boxes was is a delivery partner on its fleet. It stated that the company has a zero-tolerance policy for tampering of food. “In our commitment towards mitigating any possibility of tampering with food, Zomato will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, and other precautionary measures to ensure we safeguard against any chances of tampering of food," it said. It also said the incident is highly unusual and a rare case and the person concerned has been taken off its platform. "This incident only makes our commitment to fleet training, scheduling and process even stronger. We stand behind our extensive fleet who do the right thing across many hours of the day," the statement said. In the video that went viral a couple of days ago, a delivery man was seen eating from the packets, while sitting on his scooty. Angry customers who felt cheated, widely shared the video, seeking a response from the company. Check the video here:
