WATCH: PM Modi Gets Massive Welcome By Indian Diaspora At New York Airport
PM Modi, who is visiting the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, will depart on June 24.
New Delhi: The Indian diaspora in the United States welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting the western country for his first State visit, with chants of 'Modi, Modi' as he landed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday evening.
After he landed at the airport, the Indian Prime Minister was greeted by Indian-American diplomats, including India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and India's Permanent Representative to United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, PM Modi was seen shaking hands with the enthusiastic Indian diaspora members who waved the Indian flag.

Several members of the Indian Diaspora were also present outside Lotte New York Palace Hotel, where the Indian Prime Minister will be staying. Many of them were seen performing Garba while carrying Indian and American flags as they await PM Modi's arrival at the hotel.

PM Modi will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21. He will also meet US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Hariris, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The Bidens will host Modi at a State dinner on June 22. The visit also includes an address by PM Modi to the joint session of the US Congress on June 22.
During his US trip, PM Modi will also meet with leading CEOs and professionals and will interact with the members of the Indian diaspora in the US.
PM Modi, who is visiting the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, will depart on June 24. After the US trip, Modi will visit Egypt for two days.
