Visakhapatnam: Massive Fire Breaks Out At HPCL Plant, Rescue Operations Underway
At least five fire tenders from different industrial units in the district were rushed to douse the flames.
Visakhapatnam: A massive fire broke out at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in Malkapuram near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

Besides, a team of experts from the Indian Navy also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and assist the local administration in bringing the situation under control.
The fire erupted in crude distillation unit in the old terminal, PTI reported sources as saying.
“As per information, a blast was reported at Unit-3 plant in HPCL. Five fire tenders are present at the spot. More fire tenders are being rushed. The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained,” ANI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aishwarya Rastogi as saying.

No casualties were, however, reported as the fire was soon brought under control.
“A fire incident occurred in one of the crude processing units of HPCL’s Visakh Refinery at 3pm on 25th May 2021. Safety measures & firefighting was activated immediately. The fire has been extingushed. There is no casualty & no risk to Public. Other Refinery operations are normal,” HPCL posted on Twitter.
The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited too confirmed the same stating the fire has been extinguished and there is no casualty and no risk to public.
