Uttarakhand Election: Arvind Kejriwal Promises Free Pilgrimage Scheme If AAP Is Voted To Power
Hindus would be taken to Ayodhya, Muslims to Ajmer Sharif, and Sikhs to Kartarpur Sahib under the free pilgrimage plan, he stated during a news conference in Haridwar.
New Delhi: If the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power in Uttarakhand, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday vowed to implement a free pilgrimage plan for individuals from all tribes.
Hindus would be taken to Ayodhya, Muslims to Ajmer Sharif, and Sikhs to Kartarpur Sahib under the free pilgrimage plan, he stated during a news conference in Haridwar.
"We have introduced a free pilgrimage scheme for the elderly in Delhi under which they are taken in the comfort of AC trains for free to 12 different pilgrimage destinations all over the country including Haridwar. Their food, lodging and stay are all free," the AAP chief was quoted by PTI in its report.
According to Kejriwal, 36,000 people have already benefited from the programme.
A free train would depart from Delhi on December 3 to transport people to Ayodhya, he said.
"A similar free pilgrimage scheme for people in Uttarakhand will be introduced if we are voted to power in the state. Hindus will be taken to Ayodhya under the scheme, Muslims to Ajmer Sharif and Sikhs to Kartarpur Sahib which was opened recently," the AAP national convener said.
The AAP, according to Kejriwal, is the only party in the country to focus on the challenges that ordinary people confront.
Kejriwal also spoke with autorickshaw drivers in Haridwar, promising to handle their issues in the same way he did in Delhi if the AAP is elected to power in the state.
