UPSC Final Result 2021 Topper: Who’s Shruti Sharma? JNU Alumnus Who Topped The Exam

Shruti Sharma, who topped the prestigious UPSC exam, is an alumnus of St Stephens College and studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University for post-graduation.

New Delhi: Delhi’s Shruti Sharma has secured the first rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services examination this year. In the results announced on Monday, all the top three positions have been secured by girl candidates. Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla have emerged as the second and third rank holders, respectively. Candidates who appeared for the interview can check their respective results from the official website — upsc.gov.in.

Who’s IAS Topper Shruti Sharma?  

Sharma is an alumnus of St Stephens College and studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University for post graduation. She has been preparing for the UPSC Civil Services exam at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Residential Coaching Academy (RCA). 

So far the institute has counted 23 students from RCA, JMI, who cleared the exam this year.

Sharma was confident about qualifying for the UPSC exam but never thought that she will top the merit list. The first position came as a surprise, Sharma told the publication The Indian Express.

Expressing happiness over the results she said she wants to serve the country by joining the Indian Administration Services (IAS).

The UPSC CSE preliminary exam was held on October 10, 2021, and the results of the examination were released on October 29. The main examination was conducted from January 7 to 16, 2022, and the results were declared on March 17, 2022. The Interview was the last round of the examination which began on April 5 and concluded on May 26.

The UPSC in a release said that a total number of 685 candidates have been recommended for appointment based on the result of the written part of the Civil Services Examination, 2021, and the interviews for Personality Test held in April-May, 2022.

The 685 candidates include 244 from the general category, 73 from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 203 from Other Backward Class (OBC), 105 from Scheduled Caste (SC) and 60 from Scheduled Tribe (ST).
