Karnataka Doctors Turn Civil Servants: Dr Rangamanju, Dr Sachin Secure Top Ranks In UPSC 2024

Beyond individual grit, the bond of friendship between doctors Rangamanju and Sachin has been central to their success in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024.

Two medical professionals from Karnataka have made the state proud by securing top spots in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. Dr R Rangamanju and Dr Sachin Basavaraj Guttur have broken through intense competition to clinch All India Ranks (AIR) 24 and 41 respectively.

Dr R Rangamanju: A Legacy Of Service

At 29, Dr Rangamanju, a graduate of Bangalore Medical College, has carved his own path of public service, inspired by his later father, former IPS officer R Ramesh. Rangamanju cleared the exam on his sixth attempt, proving that perseverance and purpose can go hand in hand, as per a report on Deccan Herald.

What’s even more remarkable is that Rangamanju prepared for both the Prelims and Mains without formal coaching, relying on self-discipline and focused study. He opted for Anthropology as his optional subject.

Dr Sachin Guttur: A First-Generation Graduate

Dr Sachin, who hails from Kodiyala village in Ranebennur, overcame numerous odds to secure AIR 41 in his fourth attempt, reported The Hindu. A first-generation graduate, he pursued medicine to fulfill his father’s dream, before turning his focus to civil services.

Inspired by civil servants, Sachin has a dream of helping PM Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Despite facing three unsuccessful attempts and the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sachin’s resolve remained unshaken.

A Bond Beyond Books

Beyond individual grit, the bond of friendship between Rangamanju and Sachin has been central to their success. The duo supported each other through setbacks, burnout, and emotional lows, often drawing strength from their shared journey, as per The Indian Express.

This year, over 30 candidates from Karnataka have cleared the UPSC examination. In Karnataka, two sons of farmers have also received All India Ranks Panduranga Sadashiv Kamli (529) and Madhu (544).
