‘Extremely Disturbed At The Way Priyanka Was Manhandled By UP Policewoman,’ Says Robert Vadra

Priyanka Gandhi had alleged on Saturday that she was strangulated by a UP policewoman in Lucknow while on her way to meet the family of former IPS officer SR Darapuri and was also pushed due to which she fell down.

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra expressed his displeasure at the alleged manhandling of his wife by Lucknow cops on Saturday. Taking to Twitter, Vadra said: “ I am extremely disturbed at the way Priyanka was manhandled by the woman cops. While one held her by the throat, the other woman cop pushed her and she fell down.” In the following tweet, he praised Priyanka for continuing her travel to meet family members of Former IPS officer SR Darapuri. “But she was determined and she travelled on a two-wheeler to meet family members of Former IPS officer SR Darapuri,” he said in the following tweet. “”I am proud of you Priyanka for being compassionate and for reaching out to people who need you. What you did was correct & there is no crime to be with people in need or in grief” he said. Priyanka Gandhi had alleged on Saturday that she was strangulated by a UP policewoman in Lucknow while on her way to meet the family of former IPS officer SR Darapuri and was also pushed due to which she fell down. Later Priyanka softened her stance against the police and said that the cops were only doing their duty. Earlier on Saturday, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, said that Uttar Pradesh government is afraid of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and hence doesn't want her to visit the state and meet people. "UP government is even afraid of the shadow of Priyanka Gandhi and hence they don't want her to come to the state and meet people including farmers, workers, students etc," said Chowdhury. "What happened with her is condemnable and women force must raise their voice against it," he said. "UP police stopped me while I was going to meet the family of Darapuriji. A policewoman strangulated and manhandled me. They surrounded me while I was going on a party worker's two-wheeler, after which I walked to reach there," Priyanka Gandhi had said. She walked some distance and later rode pillion with a party leader on scooter to reach the home of S R Darapuri.
