UP Cabinet Meeting: CM Adityanath Announces Free Ration Scheme For Next 3 Months To Benefit 15 Cr People

“In the cabinet meeting today, we have decided to extend the free ration scheme for the next three months. It will benefit 15 crore people of the state,” ANI reported Adityanath as saying.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who chaired his first cabinet meeting in Lucknow on Saturday, said the government has decided to extend the free ration scheme for the next three months.

Adityanath added this scheme will benefit 15 crore people of Uttar Pradesh.

“In the cabinet meeting today, we have decided to extend the free ration scheme for the next three months. It will benefit 15 crore people of the state,” ANI reported Adityanath as saying.

Echoing similar sentiments, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the state government will spend Rs 3,270 crore for this scheme.

“In the first cabinet meeting today, we have extended the free ration scheme for the next three months,” Maurya said after the cabinet meeting held at Lucknow’s Lok Bhavan.

“For this, the government will spend Rs 3,270 crore. It will benefit 15 crore people,” he added.

This comes a day after Adityanath took oath as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive term at a grand ceremony held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak took oath as the deputy chief ministers of the state.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel  also administered the oath of office to 50 other ministers, which includes 16 cabinet ministers, 14 state ministers with independent charge and 20 ministers of state.

The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J.P. Nadda among others.

The chief ministers of several BJP-ruled states were also present at the event.

The BJP-led alliance had won 273 seats in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly in the recent polls.
