UP: 8 BJP MLAs receive threat messages; extortion money worth Rs 10lakh demanded
The person, who has been sending threatening messages, claims to be from Dubai and has sought a deposit of Rs 10 lakh in a Bitcoin account. He has threatened that if the MLAs fail to do so, the man would kill their families.
Uttar Pradesh: Bharatiya Janta Party MLAs from UP have complained of receiving threat messages, demanding extortion money worth Rs 10lakh each. The MLAs have been threatened to life and have been warned of a threat to their families.
The person, who has been sending threatening messages, claims to be from Dubai and has sought a deposit of Rs 10 lakh in a Bitcoin account. He has threatened that if the MLAs fail to do so, the man would kill their families.
These MLAs belong to Gonda, Gorakhpur and Bulandshahr.
The MLAs who have received extortion messages are: Former Minister Rajesh Tripathi, Dr Anit Lodhi, Dr Shashank Trivedi, Vir Vikram Singh, Shyam Bihari Lal, Vinay Dwivedi and Premnath.
“Received Whatsapp message around 2am and the person on the other side threatened me to deposit Rs 10lakh in his account, failing to do so, he will harm my family” one of the MLAs said. “The number from which messages were sent was of Texas, United States, but the man claimed to be from Dubai” he added.
The cops are trying to find the location and details of the person who has sent these threatening messages to the MLAs.
No information has been found so far. More details on the same are awaited.
