UNIQUE! Beauty contest for transgender begins in Kochi

The pageant called ‘Queen of Dhwayah’, is being organised for the second time after it was a huge success in 2017.

New Delhi: Kochi, Kerala will experience a whole new level of glamour, as it is ready to organise a beauty pageant especially for the transgender. The pageant called ‘Queen of Dhwayah’, is being organised for the second time after it was a huge success in 2017. The initiative taken last year has created an awareness to see transgender as a part of society. The pageant will take place on June 18, this year. The event is being organised by Dhwayah Transgender Arts and Cultural Society which works with the transgender community in the state, as per reports. Winner of the last chapter of ‘Queen of Dhwayah’ was Shyama. The contest is not just about looks or beauty, but rather has a bigger picture to cover i.e. to blend them as third gender in the society. Apart from the prize money, the contest’s aim to boost to the confidence of the transgender, is what matters. As a matter of fact today a transgender is trying to excel in every field. Social activist Kalki Subramanian, TV anchor like Padmini Prakash, election candidate like Medhu Kinnar have already set a benchmark, despite being a part of culture where it is hard on the part of society to see them as equal. The event is in the welfare of the community. As per reports, the contestants will go through three segments i.e. beauty, intelligence and social consciousness rounds to reach the pageant. The event will be judged by big names from Mollywood.
