Ukraine's Dmytro Kuleba To Discuss Global Issues With Jaishankar: MEA On Foreign Minister's 2-Day Visit

The MEA said that during his visit, Kuleba will have a bilateral engagement with EAM Jaishankar and discuss global and regional issues of common concern.

The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who is on a two-day visit to India, will have a bilateral engagement with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and discuss global and regional issues of common concern.

During a press breifing in the national capital, Jaiswal said, "The visit of Ukrainian Foreign Minister is happening on the invitation of EAM. He will be here on a two-day visit. He will have a bilateral engagement with EAM where they will review the intergovernmental commission that was held earlier. They will also discuss global issues and regional issues of common concern and there are several other engagements also lined up for the Ukrainian Foreign Minister".

Dmytro Kuleba reached New Delhi on Thursday, the MEA said in a statement. According to MEA, Jaishankar invited his Ukrainian counterpart to India, a fact both acknowledged by the ministry's statement and echoed by Minister Kuleba himself through a post on social media upon his arrival in the national capital.

Kuleba, in his social media update, emphasised his role as a facilitator of communication between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the pursuit of a peaceful resolution with Russia.

Meanwhile, a day after India summoned a senior US diplomat over comments on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the alleged freezing of the Congress’s back accounts, Randhir Jaiswal articulated New Delhi’s firm stance on the matter, saying “any external imputation” on the country’s electoral and legal processes was "unacceptable.”

Jaiswal said, “Yesterday India lodged its strong objection and protest with the senior official from the US embassy with regard to the comments made by the US State Department. The recent remarks by the State Department are unwarranted. Any such external imputation on our electoral and legal processes is completely unacceptable.”
