'No Direct Or Indirect Alliance With DMK Or BJP', Declares TVK Chief Vijay

Further, Vijay said that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam was not DMK or AIADMK to form alliance with BJP for 'selfish political gains'.

In a strong political statement, actor-turned-politician Vijay, founder and president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), ruled out any alliance with either the ruling DMK or the BJP, branding both as opponents. Addressing party members at an executive committee meeting, Vijay reaffirmed his party’s commitment to an political path ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

"The BJP wants to divide people on religious lines for cheap political gains. There will be no direct or indirect alliance with our policy opponents and divisive forces. I firmly state that we will not have any truck with either the DMK or the BJP," he said, as per a report on PTI.

"We are Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam which is not DMK or AIADMK to encourage alliance with BJP for some selfish political gains," he added.

TVK Slams DMK Over Parandur Airport

Vijay launched a scathing attack on the DMK government over its controversial Greenfield airport project at Parandur, saying it would displace thousands of families and devastate local agriculture.

He questioned Chief Minister MK Stalin's silence on the matter, stating, "they are also our people… If you don’t go and meet the people of Parandur area, then I am willing to bring them to meet you at the Secretariat."

The Parandur airport proposal has sparked protests from residents of the area, who fear loss of land and livelihood. Vijay’s remarks are likely to strike a chord with those opposing the project and may boost TVK's traction in those belts.

Vijay Officially Declared CM Candidate

In a significant organisational milestone, the party passed a special resolution naming Vijay as TVK’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2026 Assembly elections. The resolution was adopted unanimously during the executive committee meeting held on Friday.

With this, TVK becomes one of the parties in Tamil Nadu to formally declare its CM face for the upcoming polls.

The party also announced a large-scale state conference next month and plans to hold village-level public meetings aimed at expanding grassroots awareness of the party’s ideology and programs.
