Third Covid Wave Is Here, Will Fight With People’s Participation: MP CM Chouhan

The Chief Minister also said that all necessary arrangements have been made to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bhopal: Asserting there is a need to be extremely cautious as the “third COVID-19 wave” has come, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the pandemic has to be fought with people’s participation.

The Chief Minister also said that all necessary arrangements have been made to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Happy New Year to all residents of the state and countrymen. In the New Year #AtmaNirbharMP has to be built with new resolution, new excitement and new enthusiasm. The third COVID-19 wave has to be fought with people’s participation. All necessary arrangements have been made, but there is a need to be extremely cautious,” he tweeted in Hindi wishing the people across the nation on the New Year.

Earlier on Saturday, Madhya Pradesh reported 124 fresh coronavirus cases.

Indore reported 62 cases followed by Bhopal with 27 cases and Jabalpur reported eight cases.

Six Covid-19 cases were reported in Ujjain, four in Khargone and three each in Hoshangabad and Shahdol.

Besides, two cases each were reported in Narsinghpur and Ratlam, while one case each was reported in Sagar, Betul, Vidisha, Khandwa, Rajgarh, Chhindwara and Gwalior.

In view of the rising cases of Covid-19, the Centre earlier on Saturday asked the states and Union Territories to initiate creation of field or makeshift hospitals to augment availability of health infrastructure.

“To address a potential surge in cases, with a view to ensure preparedness states are advised to initiate creation of field/makeshift hospitals to augment availability of health infrastructure. This can be done with coordination with DRDO & CSIR as well as the private sector, corporations, NGOs etc. This will aid the process of rapid creation of field hospitals or temporary hospital set-ups,” Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote in his letter to the chief secretaries of all states and Union Territories.

“States may also consider leveraging hotel rooms and other accommodations’ linked with the COVID dedicated hospitals in Government and private sector to cater to patients having mild to moderate symptoms of Covid-19, as was done in some states during the earlier surge in cases,” he added.
