Swami Prasad Maurya wanted tickets for his son and daughter: Mayawati
New Delhi: BSP President Mayawati on Wednesday said Swami Prasad Maurya would have been expelled in two days had he not tendered his resignation. The party leader said Maurya wanted tickets for his son and daughter, which she refused.
“Swamy Prasad Maurya always sought election tickets for his son, daughter. I told him only you will get a ticket. Since his children wouldn't be given tickets, he left the party and has alleged that I am auctioning election tickets,” she said addressing a press-conference.
“Maurya could be joining a party which promotes dynasty politics. Samajwadi Party is the best party Swami Prasad Maurya can join,” she added.
“Swami Prasad Maurya has done great favour to BSP by quitting the party. We would have anyway expelled him in next couple of days,” she said further.
The leader of opposition in UP assembly, Maurya has alleged that party supremo used to “sell party tickets” an allegation which has not been leveled against her for the first time.
“In 2017, it is a do or die situation for the party. Instead of selecting good candidates, who are loyal to the policies of the party, Mayawati is auctioning tickets to the highest bidder. BSP has become the biggest auctioning ground.” Maurya said during a press conference.
“She is not ‘Dalit ki beti’ but ‘Daulat ki beti’, who has gone astray from the ideologies of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram,” he added.
Maurya has been associated with the BSP for 20 years and had garnered a lot of support of the most backward classes (MBCs).
He played a crucial role in forming the party’s base among Kushwahas, Mauryas, Shakyas and Sainis.
After his exit from BSP, it is unclear whether he would join Samajwadi Party or BJP.
