New Delhi: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that speedy action will be taken in the case where a man allegedly urinated on a woman co-passenger on a New York-Delhi flight last November. The 34-year-old accused, Shankar Mishra was arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday.

On November 26, last year, he reportedly urinated on a senior citizen, while being intoxicated, in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi.

A Delhi court rejected the police's plea for Mishra's custody on Saturday and instead sent him to judicial remand for 14 days.

On January 4, the Delhi Police filed a FIR against him in response to a complaint the woman made to Air India.

Mishra was fired on Friday from his position with the American multinational company Wells Fargo in India.

Earlier, news agency ANI reported quoting some senior officers familiar with the incident that Mishra is continuously changing his statement and misleading the investigation officer.

"We will record the statements of the victim woman, crew members, and co-passengers to corroborate his statement and get more details into the case," the senior officer was quoted as saying by ANI.

He went on to say that the woman passenger was sitting behind the accused when he turned around and urinated on her, and the passenger next to her protested and shouted at him, as stated in the report.
