'Small Incident': BJP Leaders’ Chorus After Maha Kumbh Stampede, All Laud Mela Arrangements

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the news of "many people losing their lives" and many people getting injured due to the stampede is extremely heartbreaking.

Maha Kumbh Stampede: BJP leaders including Hema Malini and Ramveer Singh Bidhuri lauded the Maha Kumbh Mela arrangements hours after a stampede occurred near the 'Sangam', in which 10 people are feared dead.

Bidhuri called the stampede a "small incident" that can happen anywhere. "If some small incident happened somewhere, someone spread a small rumour, then it does not mean that the system is bad," he said.

"I do not have any information about the death. I have this information that everything is going very well in Maha Kumbh and the situation is under control," the BJP leader added.

Actress and BJP MP Hema Malini took a holy dip at Sangam on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on Wednesday. On being asked about the stampede, she said these incidents happen suddenly. "The administration is doing a very good job. We feel very sorry about the incident..,very said, but they are managing everything very well," she told ABP News.

Congress Questions VIP Movement

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the news of "many people losing their lives" and many people getting injured due to the stampede on the banks of the Tirthraj Sangam during the Maha Kumbh is extremely heartbreaking.

"Our deepest condolences to the families of the devotees and we wish for the speedy recovery of the injured," he said. "Half-baked arrangements, VIP movement, paying more attention to self-promotion and mismanagement are responsible for this. Such arrangements despite spending thousands of crores of rupees are condemnable," the Congress chief said in a post in Hindi on X.

"Many important 'shahi snans' are still left, so the central and state governments should wake up now, and improve the system so that such unpleasant incidents do not happen in future," Kharge said.
