Punjab Encounter: 2 Gangsters Involved In Sidhu Moose Wala Murder Killed In Shoot-Out With Police

According to ABP News sources, the gangsters in the encounter are 2 wanted shooters in the Punjab Singer Sidhu Moosewala Murder case.

New Delhi: AIn a major police crackdown on Wednesday, both the gangsters involved in the killing of famed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was reportedly shot dead by Punjab Police on the outskirts of Amritsar close to the India-Pakistan border, news agency ANI reported. Soon after the gangsters opened fire, an operation was carried out by the Anti-Gangster Task Force is going on at Bhakna village close to the Attari border. The two gangsters were Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu, and Jagroop Singh, alias Rupa and both the key accused in Moosewala's killing.

"Heavy exchange of fire took place today, 2 gangsters involved in Sidhu Moose Wala case namely Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh killed. We have recovered an AK47 and a pistol. 3 police officials have also suffered minor injuries," Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said.

"We were keeping track of accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case and our task force saw some movement in this area. We acted upon it. Our forensic team is at the spot for further investigation," Yadav added.

The area is said to have been cordoned off.

Police forces in Punjab, Delhi, and Mumbai have arrested several other men accused in the murder allegedly planned by Canada-based Goldy Brar and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. According to a PTI report, three of the shooters allegedly involved in Moosewala's murder were on the run. While two are now engaged in a shootout, another named Deepak Mundi has not been traced yet.

They belong to the Jaggu Bhaganpuria gang, which allegedly provided shooters to Bishnoi for Moosewala's murder.

Singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, better known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Mansa on May 29, a day after the Punjab government downgraded his and over 400 other VIPs' security cover in what it termed a move against VIP culture.

The 28-year-old's body was riddled with bullets. The murder rocked the state, sparking a wave of criticism against the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The investigation into the high-profile murder case threw up Bishnoi's name. The gangster, it is alleged, plotted the crime from inside Delhi's Tihar jail to avenge the killing of an accomplice. Moosewala had allegedly helped the men who killed the gangster's aide.
