Aftab Watched Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Case Trial For Hours After Shraddha's Murder

Aftab Poonawala made extensive use of the Internet to know and understand in advance every trick of the law that could be used to confuse the police during the investigation.

The internet search history of Aftab Ameen Poonawala, accused of killing his partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into pieces in Delhi, has revealed that he watched the much-publicised Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial live for over 100 hours after the murder.

According to the Delhi Police, Aftab closely monitored every aspect of the case and increased his understanding of all the twists and turns of the law through the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard case. He also tried to understand how the behavior of celebrities affected the investigation. 

Aftab made extensive use of the internet to know and understand in advance every trick of legal intricacies that could be used to confuse the Delhi and Mumbai police during the investigation.

In June, a US jury found Amber Heard defamed ex-husband Johnny Depp with an article in which she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse. The jurors awarded Depp, who denied the allegations, $15m in compensatory and punitive damages. Coverage of the trial, which was televised and live-streamed, hit billions of views on social media.

Delhi And Mumbai Police Were Misled

According to media reports, after the murder of Shraddha, when the Mumbai Police were probing the case of her disappearance and interrogated Aftab for several rounds, he was able to mislead the Mumbai Police by claiming that Shraddha had left him. The Delhi Police had also interrogated Aftab for several rounds regarding Shraddha but he succeded in misleading them as well at the beginning of the investigation.

The murder case

The 28-year-old Aftab is accused of killing his girlfriend Shraddha Walkar in an apartment in Delhi's Mehrauli area in May. After strangling her, he chopped her body parts into 35 pieces and scattered them in the forest area over three weeks.

Aftab is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. According to reports, he lives in a cell with two other prisoners and often plays a game of chess.
