Senior Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge 'Under Home Isolation' After Testing Covid Positive
Earlier in the day, the Union Health Ministry informed that 2,47,417 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has tested positive for Covid-19.
“He is asymptomatic and under home isolation. He is fully vaccinated but was not yet eligible for his precaution dose,” the senior Congress leader’s office in a statement said, ANI reported.
Earlier in the day, the Union Health Ministry informed that 2,47,417 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The ministry said the active cases stands at 3.08 percent.
The daily positivity rate is at 13.11 percent and the weekly positivity rate is at 10.80 percent.
The Health Ministry informed that 5,488 cases of Omicron variant have so far been reported in the country, adding 2,162 people out of these have recovered.
The ministry said Maharashtra has reported 1,367 cases of Omicron followed by Rajasthan 792 cases and Delhi 549 cases.
The Health Ministry said 84,825 people recovered from Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,47,15,361.
The recovery rate is currently at 95.59 percent.
The Health Ministry said over 69 crore 73 lakh tests have been conducted so far.
The Health Ministry also informed that over 154 crore 61 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive with the administration of over 76 lakh doses vaccine doses in the last 24 hours.
“This has been achieved through 1,65,65,942 sessions,” the ministry added.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Central government has been supporting the states and Union Territories by providing them Covid vaccines free of cost.
The Health Ministry said the Union government will in the new phase of the universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination drive procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and Union Territories.
