Search Ops To Track Down Terrorists Enter Day 6 After Jawans Killed In Poonch
The intensive search operations launched to track down terrorists after the killing of four soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch has entered Day 6.
Security forces continue to battle difficult terrains as the intensive search operations launched to track down terrorists responsible for the killing of four jawans in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch last week entered Day 6, officials told news agency PTI. As the massive search and combing operations continue in the region, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh might also visit the region along with top Army and civilian officials to take stock of the situation. On Thursday, four soldiers lost their lives after their car came under attack in a terrorist ambush.
Officials said over 30 suspects haveeen questions so far and several of them have also been released. "The cordon and search operation is going on to track down the terrorists involved in the ambush on Army vehicles," a senior official told PTI.
He said that the operations included sniffer dogs, surveillance equipment and aerial mechanisms, adding that more forces have been deployed along the seven infiltration routes.
Meanwhile, mobile internet services remained suspended in the Rajouri and Poonch region for the fourth straight day.
On Tuesday, Army Chief General Manoj Pande visited the Surankote and nearby Rajouri district's Thanamandi forest belt to review the anti-terrorist operation in in the wake of the prevailing situation after the deaths of the soldiers and three civilians. He asked the security forces to remain resolute and steadfast against all challenges.
Tension gripped the region after three civilians who were picked up by the Army for questioning after the ambush were found dead on Friday.
The J&k administration has declared compensation and jobs to the families of the deceased civilian victims. The medico legal formalities were completed and legal action has been initiation in the mater, PTI reported. The Army has also ordered an internal probe in the matter and assured full support and cooperation in investigation.
