Salman Khan Summoned By Mumbai Court In 2019 Journalist 'Assault' Case

The court has summoned Salman Khan for offences under IPC sections 504 and 506, ANI reported.

New Delhi: Bollywood star Salman Khan has been summoned by Andheri magistrate court on April 5 in connection with a 2019 case filed by journalist Ashok Pandey for allegedly assaulting him.

The court has summoned Salman Khan for offences under IPC sections 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation), ANI reported.

Ashok Pandey had moved the Andheri metropolitan court in June 2019 seeking registration of an FIR against Khan and his bodyguards for allegedly assaulting him after he tried to film the actor who was riding a bicycle.

In September that year, the court had ordered the police to register an FIR against the actor and his two bodyguards.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in the wee hours of April 24 when Salman Khan was riding a bicycle escorted by two bodyguards.

Pandey said he and his cameraman was inside a car and after spotting Salman Khan, started recording a video after seeking consent of the actor's bodyguards.

The actor, however, got enraged, and his bodyguards allegedly came to the car and started thrashing Pandey, the complaint said.

Salman Khan too assaulted him and snatched away his mobile phone, Pandey alleged. The trio threatened him with dire consequences, the complaint said.

"We took out our mobile phones and started shooting. Suddenly, Salman turned around and gestured to his bodyguards. After that bodyguards riding motorcycles approached us. My cameraman was pushed by one of the guards and he even pushed our car with force. We ended up having an argument with them. Salman turned his cycle and came to us. We told him we were from the press. Salman said 'It doesn't matter'," Pandey alleged.

While the journalists were dialling 100, Salman Khan's bodyguards returned their phone.

Pandey said he approached the court because the police disposed of his complaint, saying that no crime was made out.
