SAD leader snatches AK-47 from Amritsar deputy mayor's gunman

Amritsar: A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader today snatched an AK-47 assault rifle from a gunman accompanying the deputy mayor of Amritsar Municipal Corporation and fled following an altercation between the two leaders. Akali leader Navdeep Singh Goldy first tossed off the turban of deputy mayor Avtar Singh during an argument and fled from the spot after snatching the AK-47 assault rifle of his gunman. The incident took place when the leaders attended the district level meeting with regard to the development of certain areas of the city. The incident happened in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Tajinderpal Singh Sandhu. Police commissioner Amar Singh Chahal, confirming the incident, said that a complaint has been received against Goldy for snatching the AK-47 assault rifle from his gunman and necessary action would be initiated against him. Later, Goldy was suspended from the party for anti-party activities, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Coordinator, Youth Akali Dal said.
