Russia-Ukraine Crisis | 'Left In The Lurch': Stranded Students From TN, Telangana, Karnataka Break Down On Camera

Videos made by the stranded Indian students from Ukraine, especially from Kharkiv, are making rounds on social media. The students while describing their plight are seen breaking down on camera

New Delhi: Amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, several Indian students stranded in Ukraine are being evacuated by the Indian government with the help of nations bordering the war-torn nation -- Romania, Poland and Hungary -- through "Operation Ganga". Amid the turmoil, Indian students fleeing Ukraine have been harassed while several others have been left to lurch to face the heat of the war between both countries.

Several students living in bunkers in Kharkiv city of Ukraine have been requesting the Indian government to help them by evacuating from Ukraine. Videos made by the stranded Indian students from Ukraine, especially from Kharkiv, are making rounds on social media. The students while describing their plight are seen breaking down on camera.

Tamil Students stranded in Ukraine

A batch of Tamil students, who claim that they were forced to stay indoors describe their plight, in a video retweeted by Telugu actress Manchu Lakshmi, captioning it, "Pls listen".

The teary students desperately pleaded with the government of India to evacuate them. "Please help us. We are living in fear and there is an acute shortage of food and water here. We are in a panicky state as every now and then we can hear loud sounds due to bombing. We once again beg the government to please evacuate us from here," four Tamil students described their plight in a video.

Telugu students stranded In Ukraine

In another such incident, two Telugu students, who were stranded in a bunker made a video and requested the government to take them out of the critical situation they have been facing in Kharkiv.

"We are left in the lurch, without any support from the government. We are stuck in the bunkers in Kharkiv. There are at least 5,000 Indian students living in bunkers. At least 500-600 Telugu students are stranded. We don't need this situation. We request the government to please help us in reaching our home," Telugu students stranded in Ukraine's Kharkiv broke down on camera.

Kannada students stranded in Ukraine

In a similar incident, Kannada students who are pursuing their first-year MBBS in a university in Kharkiv have also pleaded with the government to help them to get out of Ukraine. 

Meanwhile, On Monday, the fifth flight as part of "Operation Ganga" airlifted 249 students from Romania's Bucharest.
