Rs 25 Lakh Compensation To Kin Of Army Soldiers From J&K Killed On Line Of Duty: J&K Governor

Manoj Sinha also assured that withdrawn posts referred to PSC/SSB before October 31, 2019 shall be put to fresh advertisement within two months for recruitment on a fastrack basis.

New Delhi: A compensation of Rs 25 lakh will be given to the family of Army soldiers from Jammu and Kashmir killed during the Line of Duty within the Union Territory or elsewhere, announced Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday.

"The jawans of our security forces have laid down their lives while protecting the territorial integrity of the nation and this decision will end the discriminatory policy towards martyrs," said the Lieutenant Governor while interacting with the media persons at the Convention Centre, as reported by ANI.

Sinha made several major announcements and shared the government's vision on various developmental and administrative issues.

He spoke on the issue of withdrawal of posts referred to PSC/SSB before October 31, 2019 and said that only the posts where selections have not been made and results have not been declared were withdrawn.

In some cases, there are referred posts that have remained stuck since 2004. Now, recruitment rules, reservation laws have been changed. Some posts were also transferred to the Union Territory of Ladakh. Hence, withdrawal of these posts was essential to ensure transparent and merit-based recruitments, he said.

He assured that these posts shall be put to fresh advertisement within two months for recruitment on a fastrack basis, as per the report by ANI.

One-time relaxation will be given to the aspirants who had already applied for the withdrawn posts so as to ensure equal opportunity to all, said the Lieutenant Governor.

We have ensured free, fair, and merit-based selections in the recruitment process. The pending 3000 Class-IV posts will be filled within two months on a merit basis, he added.
