Republic Day 2023: President Murmu Receives Salute From Gallantry Award Winners To Start R-Day Parade

Param Vir Chakra is awarded for the most conspicuous act of bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of the enemy, while the Ashok Chakra is awarded for similar acts of valour and self-sacrifice but, other than, in the face of the enemy.   

Republic Day 2023: On the occasion of the 74th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu honoured the bravehearts of Indian forces. During the Republic Day 2023 parade, the President took the salute and admired the gallantry award winners. The proud winners of the highest gallantry awards include the winners of Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra.

The Param Vir Chakra is awarded for the most conspicuous act of bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of the enemy, while the Ashok Chakra is awarded for similar acts of valour and self-sacrifice but, other than, in the face of the enemy.   

The parade commenced with the President taking the salute commanded by Parade Commander, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, a second-generation Army officer. Major General Bhavnish Kumar, Chief of Staff, HQ Delhi Area was the Parade Second-in-Command.

Republic Day 2023 Celebrations

President Droupadi Murmu is leading the nation in celebrating the 74th Republic Day from Kartavya Path, with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the Chief Guest.

Building on last year's "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebrations, this year's celebrations will include patriotic fervour and community participation, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The week-long celebrations began on January 23rd, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and will conclude on January 30th, Martyrs' Day, with the Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival "Aadi Shaurya - Parv Parakram ka" taking place in New Delhi on January 23rd and 24th.
