Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent leaders on Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Republic Day. India is observing its 74th Republic Day, the day its Constitution came into force. On January 26, 1950, the Indian Constitution was formally adopted.
Extending wishes to the people, PM Modi stressed that India should move ahead in a united way to realise the dreams of the great freedom fighters of the country. "Many wishes for Republic Day. This time this occasion is also special because we are celebrating it during the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. We wish to move ahead in a united way to make the dreams of the great freedom fighters of the country come true. Happy Republic Day to all fellow Indians!", Modi tweeted in Hindi.

BJP president JP Nadda also extended greetings on the occasion. "Best wishes to all the countrymen on the 74th Republic Day. Our democracy becoming progressive and mature should create a sense of duty, opportunity and equality in the heart of every person of India. I bow down to all the great personalities dedicated to our unity, integrity and sovereignty," BJP President JP Nadda tweeted in Hindi.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the event is an opportunity for the countrymen to rededicate themselves to the resolve to build a new India. "Happy Republic Day to all the countrymen. This day is an opportunity for all Indians to strengthen the country's constitutional traditions and rededicate themselves to the resolve to build a new India. Salute to all the constitution makers and freedom fighters of India," Rajnath tweeted in Hindi.

The Congress Party greeted the nation ahead of the grand Republic Day celebrations and offered tributes to Indian freedom fighter and first Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Bhagcwat Dayal Sharma on his birth anniversary. "Governor of Madhya Pradesh B. D. Sharma ji discharged his responsibilities towards the country while holding various posts," the Congress tweeted.

Home minister Amit Shah also wished the nation on Twitter and remembered all those who dedicated their lives to liberate the nation. "Hearty greetings to all the countrymen on the occasion of 74th Republic Day. Today, I salute all those freedom fighters, constitution makers and brave soldiers who have dedicated their lives to liberate, strengthen and protect the country," wrote Shah.

The celebration of Republic Day this year will witness zeal, enthusiasm, patriotic fervor, and "Jan Bhagidari," as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, building on the 75th anniversary of Independence, celebrated as "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav."
The ceremony will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial and paying tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Thereafter, the prime minister and other dignitaries will head to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.
The Republic Day celebrations will take place on the revamped Central Vista avenue and will be the first at the ceremonial boulevard after Rajpath was renamed to Kartavya Path last year.
After that, the Prime Minister and other high-ranking officials will make their way to the saluting dais on Kartavya Path to watch the parade.
The week-long celebrations commenced on 23rd January, the birth anniversary of great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. To mark the occasion, a one-of-a-kind Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival ‘Aadi Shaurya - Parv Parakram ka’ was organised in New Delhi on 23rd& 24th January. The events will culminate on 30th January, which is observed as Martyrs’ Day.
The celebrations are marked by attractive performances from Vande Bharatam group of dancers from across the country, tales of bravery by Veer Gatha 2.0 participants, melodious performances by School Bands at the National War Memorial, first-ever e-invitations, largest-ever drone show and 3-D anamorphic projection.
