Exclusive | PM Modi Wanted To Work Together, I Rejected: Sharad Pawar
As per media reports, Pawar's daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule was offered a ministerial berth in the Union Cabinet, and there was even speculation that he was offered the President's post.
New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar while speaking exclusively to ABP News told that during the recent turmoil in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had offered him to "working together", but he rejected the offer. Pawar said he made it clear to PM Modi that it won't be possible for him to work together. Pawar had met with PM Modi in Delhi last month amid developments over government formation in Maharashtra.
Making this big disclosure in an interview with ABP Majha, the NCP chief said that he had told Modi that he has good relations with him, but their "working together was not possible". "Modi offered we work together. I told him that our personal relations are very good and they will remain that way but it is not possible for me to work together," Pawar said.
The Marathi strongman also accepted that reports on cabinet berth being offered for his daughter Supriya Sule were true. He, however, dismissed the reports that the Modi government offered to make him India's President. "But there was an offer to make Supriya (Sule) a minister in the Modi-led cabinet," he added. Supriya Sule is Pawar's daughter and a Lok Sabha member from Baramati in Pune district.

After the Shiv Sena split from its long-time ally BJP over the issue of a rotational Chief Minister, the Sena, Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress had started discussions on a common minimum programme. But in the midst of this, Pawar had set off speculation by meeting the Prime Minister.
However, it was Pawar who took the initiative for the Sena-NCP-Congress government, and even convinced an initially-reluctant Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi to give her consent.

In fact, Modi has always praised Pawar and made it a point not to launch a vicious attack against him during the state election campaign. Modi's latest praise for Pawar came last month when he was speaking on the occasion of 250th session of the Rajya Sabha. Modi said other parties, including the BJP, should learn from the NCP on how to adhere to parliamentary norms.
