Reforms Will Boost Income Of Farmers: PM Modi After FM Sitharaman Unveils Covid-19 Relief Package

Prime Minister said that the announcements made by the Finance Minister will help the rural economy, our hardworking farmers, fishermen, the animal husbandry and dairy sectors.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who announced his vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India) earlier this week, hailed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman for various measures taken to support the farmers and in-turn, revive the economy which slowed down during corona induced  lockdown. Taking to his official Twitter account on Friday, Prime Minister said that the announcements made by the Finance Minister will help the rural economy, our hardworking farmers, fishermen, the animal husbandry and dairy sectors. "I welcome today’s measures announced by FM @nsitharaman. They will help the rural economy, our hardworking farmers, fishermen, the animal husbandry and dairy sectors. I specially welcome reform initiatives in agriculture, which will boost income of farmers,"PM Modi tweeted.
The package made public on Friday by the Finance Minister is part of Rs 20 lakh crore Atmanirbhar Bharat announced by the PM. Sitharaman on Friday came out with 11 fiscal measures along with regulatory reforms to revive agriculture and allied sectors for 'self-reliant India'. Of the 11, 8 focus on strengthening infrastructures, logistics, storage and the rest 3 relate to govt and administrative reforms. While interacting with the media, Minister announced a fund of Rs 10,000 Crore allotted for the  formalisation of Micro Food Enterprises (MFE). To help Fisheries sector, Centre relaxes operations of Marine Capture Fisheries and Aquaculture to cover Inland Fisheries. In addition to this, a new scheme was introduced to give lower interest to dairy cooperatives. The interest subvention scheme will continue and will put additional ₹ 5,000 crore in hands of 2 crore farmers.
