Rakesh Tikait Calls Asaduddin Owaisi BJP's 'Chacha Jaan', Fuels Political Controversy

“Even though Owaisi has come to UP as a guest, the villagers have given him this name,” Tikait told ABP News in an exclusive interview.

New Delhi: Days after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stirred a political controversy with his ‘abba jaan’ remark ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait stoked a fresh row calling All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi to be ‘chacha jaan’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Even though Owaisi has come to UP as a guest, the villagers have given him this name,” Tikait told ABP News in an exclusive interview.

“There is nothing untrue about it, after all a ‘chacha jaan’ would surely help his nephews when they are in trouble,” he added calling Owaisi to be the BJP’s ‘B-Team’.

How is Owaisi helping BJP?

“The people of the village have been saying that he is helping them (BJP). The people of the village know everything. Hence, there is nothing wrong in calling Owaisi ‘chacha jaan’ of the BJP,” he said while responding to this poser.

What did BJP say in retaliation?

The BJP lashed out at the Bharatiya Kisan Union leader over his remarks and said Tikait now stands exposed.

“Rakesh Tikait has been exposed. He is trying to make his political career under the garb of farmers' movement,” the saffron party said.

Reacting to the same, Tikait said every man involves himself in politics at one point or the other.

“One who votes also does politics. We vote for someone or the other,” he added.

AIMIM's reaction on Tikait’s comment:

The AIMIM dubbed Tikait’s statement as “politics of deceit”.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union leader commenting on the same said both the BJP and AIMIM are speaking against each other, adding this is what the rival political parties do.

“He (Owaisi) has come from Hyderabad, he is the (Uttar Pradesh) government’s guests from Hyderabad,” said Tikait.

He further said no one understands politics better than the villagers, adding everyone is aware about the statements being made.

Tikait’s comment on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s 'abba jaan' statement:

“We have no objection to what the people say. We neither have time nor do we pay heed to these statements. There is no supply of electricity at the border. We do not listen to anyone's rhetoric,” he said.

Advising the BJP, Tikait said the saffron party should not do politics in the name of development.

“They should work in the field of healthcare and education. The nation has suffered every time religion has been involved in politics,” he added.
