Rajnath Singh-Led DAC Clears Proposals Worth Rs 84,000 Crore For Armed Forces
The Indian Coast Guard's acquisition of Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels to boost its coastal surveillance capabilities.
New Delhi: In a meeting held on Thursday, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has accorded approval for Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for 24 Capital Acquisition Proposals which include 6 for the Indian Army, 6 for Indian Air Force, 10 for Indian Navy and 2 for Indian Coast Guard of total value Rs 84,328 crore, said Defence Ministry, reported news agency ANI.

According to the Defence Ministry, the Indian Army will receive futuristic infantry combat vehicles, light tanks, and a mounted gun system as part of the accorded AoNs, significantly to improve its operational readiness. The proposals that were approved also include the purchase of soldiers' upgraded-level ballistic helmets.
According to the ministry, the Indian Navy's capabilities will be bolstered by approvals for the acquisition of Naval Anti-Ship Missiles, Multi-Purpose Vessels, and High Endurance Autonomous Vehicles.
In a view to further enhance the lethal capabilities of the Indian Air Force, the procurement of a new range of missile systems, Long Range Guided Bombs, Range Augmentation Kits for conventional bombs, and advanced surveillance systems has been approved.
"Indian Air Force will be further strengthened with enhanced lethal capabilities by induction of new range of missile system, Long Range Guided Bombs, Range Augmentation Kit for conventional bombs and advanced surveillance systems," said Defence Ministry.
