Rahul Gandhi ups ante against BJP over Rafale deal; Asks where is CAG report mentioned in SC order

Congress President Rahul Gandhi once again attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. over the Rafale deal.

New Delhi: Shortly after Supreme Court (SC) denied to ‘sit in judgement’ on the much-controversial Rafale Deal earlier in the day, Congress President Rahul Gandhi once again attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the same. Speaking to reporters during a press conference, Congress President questioned that why PM Modi refrains from speaking on the issue and only Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman speak. “We are regularly doing press conference but PM never has done a press conference,” he said. Gandhi also said that the government must explain to Congress that where is the CAG report and should show it to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Mallikarjun Kharge. Even Kharge has said that CAG has not given any report on Rafale deal. Gandhi during his press conference also questioned that how the SC judgement has this line that Rafale pricing has been discussed in PAC. Earlier, Kharge also said that the CAG has not given submitted any report on Rafale to PAC. “Maybe a different PAC is running parallelly, maybe in a different Parliament, maybe in Parliament of France. It is possible Modi ji has constituted his own PAC in PMO,” the Congress President alleged. Further questioned on the basis on SC’s verdict, Gandhi said, “How can it be possible that the foundation of SC judgement saying that pricing has been discussed in CAG report...PAC chairman is sitting here, how come he never saw it. No one in PAC ever saw it. But Supreme Court saw it,” Gandhi said. “Poora Hindustan samajhta hai ki chowkidaar chor hai. Seedhi baat hai aur hum isko saabit karke dikhaenge ki Hindustan ka Pradhanmantri Anil Ambani ka dost hai aur Anil Ambani ko usne chori karayi hai. [Entire India understands that watchman (PM Modi) is theft. It is fairly straight and we will prove this to the country that its Prime Minister is Anil Ambani’s friend and they stole],” Gandhi added further. Providing a big relief to the BJP, the top court today ruled that it found no merit in allegations of corruption in the government's Rs 59,000-crore deal for 36 Rafale jets from France government.
