'Rahul Gandhi In Grip Of Maoist Thought Process': Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams Congress Leader
Reacting to Gandhi's remarks, Prasad asked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and his predecessor Sonia Gandhi to "disown" Rahul Gandhi's controversial remark.
New Delhi: BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday slammed Rahul Gandhi over his democracy remark, stating that Gandhi "has sought to shame India's democracy, polity, parliamentary system from foreign land" and is completely in the grip of “Maoist thought process through his minions” and also “anarchist elements”.
While addressing an in-conversation session at the Chatham House think tank in London, Rahul Gandhi questioned: "why Europe and the US, the defenders of democracies, were oblivious of how a huge chunk of democracy in India had come undone".
Reacting to Gandhi's remarks, Prasad asked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and his predecessor Sonia Gandhi whether they support Rahul Gandhi's remarks and if not, he recommended ‘disowning’ them.
Addressing a press conference, Prasad said, "We ask Congress pres Mr Kharge if you feel that you are an elected pres of Congress, do you support this irresponsible & shameful comment of Rahul Gandhi that 'America & Europe must intervene in India to restore democracy'? If you don't support Rahul Gandhi's statement, then disown it."
He further stated, "Sonia Gandhi Ji, BJP will like to urge you to make your stand very clear - where do you stand in the face of this utterly irresponsible statement of your son asking for interference by America & Europe to restore democracy in India?"
Slamming Gandhi, Karnataka CM and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai said, "The way Rahul Gandhi is speaking whenever he is on foreign soil makes me doubt his integrity and also his intelligence."
Hitting out at Gandhi for his remarks, Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “First foreign agents target us! Then our own targets us on a foreign land! Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Cambridge was nothing but a brazen attempt to denigrate our country on foreign soil in the guise of targeting PM Modi.”
Gandhi's remarks targetting M Modi-led government at the Centre prompted BJP leaders to slam the Congress leaders over criticism from foreign soil.
