Punjab: Police Busts ISI Backed Narco-Terrorism Modules Operating From Abroad. Drugs, Explosives Recovered

Punjab Police Busted ISI Backed Terror Modules: Police also identified five other accomplices who were a part of the module in carrying out unlawful activities across Punjab and neighbouring states.

Amritsar Rural Police have busted an ISI-backed Narco-Terrorism module on Tuesday. The development comes after the Punjab Police has increased vigilance and alertness against anti-social elements ahead of the festival season at the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's directive. Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav stated that after discovering weapons and explosives in his possession, the organization's principal agent had been detained, as per a statement released by Punjab government.

Lakhbir Singh alias Landa from Canada, Harvinder Singh Rinda from Pakistan, and Harpreet Singh alias Happy from Italy are all working together to run the module.

The police have also identified five other accomplices who were a part of the module in carrying out unlawful activities across Punjab and neighbouring states. The arrested suspect has been identified as Yograj Singh, alias Yog, a resident of Village Rajoke in Tarn Taran, as per the government statement.

"The arrested accused Yograj is the main operative of this module and wanted by the state police and Central Enforcement Agencies in at least five criminal cases including the one wherein five AK-47 assault rifles were seized in Tarn Taran in September 2019": DGP Gaurav Yadav said.

He continued by saying that Yograj had taken an active role in the large-scale recovery and delivery of consignments of drugs and weapons.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural Swapan Sharma, "the police have exposed members of the Landa-Rinda terror module in a significant operation. According to him, a manhunt has been started to find five of the gang's members after the Police were able to identify them in the current module."

He stated that additional inquiries are being conducted and that additional discoveries of weapons and explosives are imminent.

At Police Station Ramdas in Amritsar Rural, FIR No. 107, dated 04/10/2022, has been filed in accordance with Sections 21/27-A/29/61/85 of the NDPS Act and Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
