Punjab Govt Imposes Night Curfew In Municipal Areas. Know What's Open And Closed

According to the guidelines released by the Punjab government bars, cinemas halls, malls, restaurants, spas will operate at 50% capacity.

New Delhi: With the surge in Covid cases in the country, the Punjab government has imposed a night curfew in municipal areas with certain exceptions.

According to the guidelines released by the state government bars, cinemas halls, malls, restaurants, spas will operate at 50% capacity subject to staff being fully vaccinated. Gyms will remain closed in Punjab.

The guidelines also said that only fully vaccinated staff will attend government and private offices in the state and rest of the staff will work from home.

Night curfew guidelines in Punjab

  • Movement of individuals for all the non-essential activities shall remain prohibited between 10.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m. within municipal limits of all the cities and towns of Punjab. 
  • Essential activities including operation of multiple shifts in industry, offices, etc. (both Government and private), movement of persons and goods on National and State Highways, and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains, and aeroplanes will be permitted.
  • All Educational Institutions including schools, colleges, universities, coaching institutions etc. shall remain closed.
  • All Sports Complexes, stadia, swimming pools, Gyms shall remain closed.
  • Sports Complexes used for training of sportspersons for participation in National/International sports events as well as for organizing National/International sports events will remain open. No Spectators or visitors are to be allowed.
  • AC buses will run at 50% of capacity.
  • Only fully vaccinated staff will be allowed to attend the Government as well as Private Offices, working spaces, factories, industries, etc.

Covid cases in Punjab

Punjab has been witnessing a rise in the number of infections for the past few days. One more person died from coronavirus in Punjab on Monday as 419 fresh cases surfaced, taking the state's infection tally to 6,05,922, according to state medical bulletin.

So far, 16,651 people have died from the infection in the state. The death count also included two deaths that were not reported earlier.

The number of active cases rose to 1,741 from 1,369 a day before.

Of fresh cases, Patiala reported 143 infections, followed by 58 in Pathankot, 57 in Ludhiana and 30 in Mohali.

Thirty-eight more people recovered from the infection, taking the number of those who have recovered to 5,87,530, the bulletin said.
