The Delhi government on Thursday allowed the reopening of bars outside containment zones. But there will strict Covid 19 safety measures in place. Here's how your experience will be different this time.

New Delhi: After a 5 month long hiatus, bars, and pubs in Delhi are set to reopen from September 9. The Delhi government on Thursday allowed the reopening of bars outside containment zones and Lieutenant General Anil Baijal also approved the state government’s recommendations. As per the latest guidelines by Delhi Disaster Management Authority, bars shall be permitted outside containment zones in Delhi from Sept 9 to Sept 30 on a trial basis subject to strict compliance to Covid-19 SOPs.   • Only 50 percent capacity: In order to ensure the safety of customers the government has put restrictions on large groups. The guidelines say that bars and pubs will serve 50 percent of customers at a time on their premises. This means that it is better to make reservations before visiting.
  • Six feet distancing: Bars and pubs will have to ensure six feet of social distancing among people. This means that you may not be able to enjoy sitting together in a group.
  • No dance floors: Since it is necessary to maintain social distancing areas that can attract large crowds will remain shut. So you may not be able to shake a leg soon.
  • Masks and gloves: It is mandatory for visitors and staff to wear masks and gloves. This compulsion of masks and gloves, people might find it a bit difficult to spend long hours at these places.
  • Thermal screening before entry: According to media reports, customers will have to undergo thermal screening before entering. Those found with symptoms or high temperatures may be denied entry.
The news has come as a relief for the nightlife industry that suffered major losses due to the lockdown. While bar and pub owners are enthusiastic about the decision, the steadily rising Covid 19 cases in the country may mean that it will take some time for business to be back on track.
