Priyanka Gandhi clinched the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a thumping margin of over four lakh votes, surpassing her brother Rahul Gandhi's victory margin from the 2024 general elections.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was sworn in as a Member of Parliament for Wayanad in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, marking her official entry into parliamentary politics. Priyanka joined her brother, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, after securing a resounding victory in the recent Wayanad bypoll.

Priyanka Gandhi clinched the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a thumping margin of over four lakh votes, surpassing her brother’s victory margin from the 2024 general elections. The 52-year-old Congress general secretary defeated CPI(M)-led LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri by securing more than six lakh votes, making a strong electoral debut.

After taking oath, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "The priority will be to raise important issues concerning the nation...There is nothing above the Constitution for us and we will continue to fight for it."

On Wednesday, Congress leaders from Wayanad handed over the election certificate to Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. During the event, Rahul was seen celebrating the moment by offering sweets to his sister.

Expressing her gratitude, Priyanka Gandhi said, "I am deeply moved by the overwhelming support and trust shown by the people of Wayanad. I promise to work tirelessly for the welfare and development of this beautiful constituency." She also praised local Congress leaders for their unwavering efforts during the election campaign.

During discussions with Wayanad Congress leaders, Priyanka focused on addressing local issues and charting a future course of action aimed at holistic development in the constituency.
