Power Is Born For Shiv Sena, WIll Work And Return On Our Own Again: Sanjay Raut

Sanjay Raut said after Uddhav Thackeray's resignation that Shiv Sena is not born for power but power is born for Shiv Sena.

New Delhi: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has commented on Uddhav Thackeray quitting the post as Maharashtra Chief Minister and said that they will work and come to power on their own once again. He said on Thursday morning, "Shiv Sena is not born for power, power is born for Shiv Sena. This has always been Balasaheb Thackeray's mantra."

Uddhav Thackeray quit as the chief minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday night, paving the way for Bhartiya Janata Party to return to power again. Thackeray delivered an emotional speech during a Facebook webcast saying that though they worked for the state and their party his own colleagues rebelled against him.

Thackeray's announcement came minutes after the Supreme Court refused to stay Maharashtra Governor's direction to the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress Maha Vikas Aghadi government to take a floor test in the Assembly on Thursday.

He had no regret leaving his post, Thackeray, who was facing a rebellion by majority of Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde, said.

"I am also quitting as member of Legislative Council," Thackeray said in a webcast, while appealing to the workers of his party not to take to the streets in protest.

Thackeray, who heads the Shiv Sena, appealed to Sena workers to allow the rebel legislators to return to Mumbai.

"Let the rebels who grew politically because of Shiv Sena and Balasaheb Thackeray get joy and satisfaction of pulling down his son from the post of chief minister," Uddhav Thackeray said.

"I don't want to get into the numbers' game. It would be shameful for me to see if even one of my own party colleagues stands against me," he said.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut also said that he will appear before the Enforcement Directorate on July 1, Friday after the probe agency summoned him for the second time .

Raut is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate in the Patra chawl land scam case
