PM Modi To Unveil Projects Worth Rs 30,500 Crore During Jammu Visit On Feb 20

PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 30,500 crore during his visit to Jammu on February 20.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu on February 20 to inaugurate, dedicate to nation, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 30,500 crore at a public function at the Maulana Azad Stadium. The projects will contribute to the development of various sectors including rail, road, aviation, petroleum, civic infrastructure, education, and health, among others.

During his visit, PM Modi will also distribute appointment letters to around 1500 fresh Government recruits of Jammu and Kashmir and interact with beneficiaries of the government schemes which are a part of the 'Viksit Bharat Jammu' program.

Education sector

PM Modi will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate to nation projects worth Rs 13,375 crore. These project inaugurations are a part of the prime minister's plan to upgrade and develop education and skilling infrastructure across the country. The projects which are dedicated to the nation include permanent campus of IIT Tirupati, IIT Bhilai, IITDM Kancheepuram, a skill training institute on advanced technologies called IIS in Kanpur, and two campuses of Central Sanskrit University at Agartala and Devprayag.

Apart from the three new IIMs in the country that will be inaugurated at Bodh Gaya, Jammu and Vishakhapatnam, PM Modi will also inaugurate 20 new buildings for Kendriya Vidyalaya and 13 new Nabodaya Vidyalayas across the country. The foundation stone of five Kendriya Vidyalayas, a Navodyay Vidyalaya campus, and five multipurpose hall for Navodyay Vidyalaya across the nation will also be laid by him.

AIIMS Jammu

PM Modi will also inaugurate AIIMS Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu, the foundation stone for which was laid in February 2019 under the Central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. 

The hospital has been established at a cost of over 1660 crore and spans across 227 acres. It is well equipped with 720 beds, a nursing college with 60 seats, medical college with 125 seats, hostel accomodation for UG and PG students, auditorium, night shelter, shopping complex, and a guest house.

New Terminal Building at Jammu Airport

The foundation stone for a new terminal building at Jammu Airport spreading over a 40,000 sqm area, equipped with modern facilities which can cater to 2000 passengers during peak hours, will also be laid by the prime minister. The project is aimed at strengthening air connectivity, boosting trade and tourism, and accelerating the region's economic growth.

Rail projects

PM Modi will also dedicate to nation several rail projects in Jammu and Kashmir to improve connectivity, boost overall economic development, and ensure environmental sustainability. The projects include the newly electrified Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan section and a new rail line between Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan. The prime minister will also flag off the first Electric train in the valley and the train services between Baramulla and Sangaldan station.

Road projects

The foundation stone of road projects including two packages of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway connecting Jammu to Katra, five packages to upgrade the 161 km long Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri stretch of NH-01, phase two of four-laning of Srinagar Ring Road, and construction of Kulgam Bypass & Pulwama bypass on NH-444, will also be laid by PM Modi.

CUF Petroleum depot

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the development of a state-of-the-art fully automated Common User Facility Petroleum depot at Jammu. The development of this project will cost around Rs 677 crore and will have a storage capacity of about 100000 KL for storing Superior Kerosene Oil, Motor Spirit, Aviation Turbine fuel, High Speed Diesel, winter grade HSD, and Ethanol.

Other projects

Some of the other projects that PM Modi will inaugurate include Common Effluent Treatment Plants and Sewage Treatment Plants, an Intelligent Traffic Management system in Srinagar city,  Road projects & Bridges, receiving stations transmission line Projects, Several Degree College buildings, and a Drug Testing Laboratory at Kathua, among few others.

The development of five new Industrial Estates across Jammu and Kashmir, Up-gradation of Transport Nagar at Parimpora Srinagar, Data Centre/ Disaster Recovery Centre for Integrated Command and Control Centre of Jammu Smart City, and transit accommodation - 2816 flats at nine locations in districts Anantnag, Kulgam, Kupwara, Shopian & Pulwama, among others will also be initiated by PM Modi.
