PM Modi To Relaunch Andhra's Amaravati Capital Project In April: Know Details

According to officials, PM Modi's visit will include the foundation stone laying for various projects and the inauguration of multiple completed developments in Amaravati.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to relaunch the Amaravati greenfield capital city project in April, marking a significant revival of the long-stalled infrastructure initiative. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand confirmed the development, stating that the state has secured ample financial backing to resume construction.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit this month (April) to restart the construction of Capital Amaravati," Vijayanand stated in an official release, as per a report on PTI.

According to officials, PM Modi's visit will include the foundation stone laying for various projects and the inauguration of multiple completed developments in Amaravati. The large-scale investment—estimated at Rs 1 lakh crore—aims to accelerate the construction of key infrastructure, including government complexes, roads, and urban amenities across a 217 sq km area.

Singapore To Rejoin Amaravati Development?

During a meeting with a Singapore government delegation at Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Commissioner K Kanna Babu provided updates on the project’s progress. He revealed that tenders have already been invited for multiple infrastructure projects, including the construction of government buildings and trunk roads.

The Singapore delegation, which played a crucial role in Amaravati’s initial planning between 2014 and 2019, met with CRDA and Municipal Department officials to explore potential collaboration. Singapore government representative Francis Chong assured Andhra Pradesh officials that efforts would be made to revive the partnership.

In an official statement, Chief Secretary Vijayanand requested Singapore’s continued support for the project. He emphasised that the state has secured funding from institutions like the World Bank, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to ensure the smooth execution of the capital city's development.

"The Prime Minister will relaunch works worth approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, lay the foundation stone for various projects, and inaugurate several developmental projects this month," he added.

This announcement marks a major milestone in Amaravati’s long-delayed development, signaling a renewed push by the central and state governments to transform it into a world-class capital city.
