Prime Minister Narendra Modi Set To Inaugurate 6 Mega Namami Gange Projects In Uttarakhand Today

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate six mega projects in Uttarakhand today using video conferencing. These include sewage treatment plants and a museum on Ganga.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate 6 mega projects in Uttarakhand under Namami Gange today at 11 AM. The event will be held through video conferencing. According to the Prime Minister's office, the projects include inaugration of  sewage treatment plants (STP) in different parts of the state and the first musuem on Ganga. The release say that teh STP will have help in cleaning the river sicne 'Haridwar-Rishikesh zone contributes about 80 percent wastewater load into the River Ganga.' ALSO READ| Defence Ministry Does Away With Offset Policy In Rafale-Like Govt-To-Govt Deals After CAG Pulls Up Centre The projects that will inaugurated today includes the construction of a 68 million litres per day (MLD) STP and upgradation of the existing 27 MLD at Jagjeetpur, in Haridwar which is the first sewerage project taken up on hybrid  Public-Private Partnership Model (PPP). Construction of an 18 MLD STP at Sarai, in Haridwar and 26 MLD STP at Lakkadghat In Rishikesh will also be inaugurated. The first 4 storied STP in the country will also be inaugurated in Muni ki Reti town, where  a 7.5 MLD STP was constructed in less than 900 sqaure metere area which accoring to the statement is 'about 30 percent of the usual area requirement for STPs of such capacity.'  STPs at Chorpani and Badrinath will also be inaugurated. The release also says that 'in all 30 projects (100%) are now complete in Uttarakhand for taking care of pollution from 17 Ganga towns near river Ganga.' The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 'Ganga Avalokan', the first museum on Ganga dedicated to showcase the culture, biodiversity and rejuvenation activities done in Ganga river.
