PM Modi Poland-Ukraine Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on official visits to Poland and war-torn Ukraine beginning today (Wednesday). He will visit Poland on August 21 and 22. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the past 45 years.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister will be accorded a ceremonial welcome in Warsaw. He will call on President H.E. Mr. Andrzej Sebastian Duda. Later, PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Donald Tusk. He is also slated to interact with the Indian community in Poland.

MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in an official statement, said, "This historic visit in this landmark year for India and Polish relations will provide an opportunity for our leaders to review the bilateral partnership and offer guidance on enhancing this cooperation in diverse areas and also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest."

PM Modi Ukraine Visit

Following his Poland visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Ukraine. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine after establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.

Prime Minister’s engagements in Kyiv will touch a range of aspects of bilateral ties including political, trade, economic, investments, education, cultural, people-to-people exchanges, humanitarian assistance and others, according to the MEA statement.

During his visit, PM Modi will also interact with Indian community, including students during the visit. PM’s landmark visit to Ukraine will help further consolidation and expansion of bilateral ties.

Speaking on PM Modi's Ukraine visit, Jaiswal said, "The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Modi to Ukraine will provide an opportunity to hold discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations, ranging from economic and business linkages, agriculture, infrastructure, health and education, pharmaceuticals, defense, culture, and people-to-people ties".

"This landmark visit, of course, takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which will also form part of discussions. As you are aware, India has consistently advocated for diplomacy and dialogue to reach a negotiated settlement. India had attended the Summit for Peace in Ukraine, hosted by Switzerland, in June this year," he further stated.
