PM Modi Inaugurates Railway Projects In Gujarat; Launches Revamped Vadnagar Train Station | Key Highlights

PM Modi on Friday inaugurated several developmental projects in Gujarat via video conferencing including a revamped Vadnagar railway station and a 5-star hotel atop Gandhinagar train station.

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated multiple development projects in Gujarat via video conferencing. The inauguration included a slew of railway projects in Gujarat along with country's first airport-like railway station in Gandhinagar. 

During the event, PM also flagged off two new trains - the Gandhinagar Capital-Varanasi Superfast Express and the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service trains between Gandhinagar Capital and Varetha.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 5-star hotel atop Gandhinagar train station. 

PM Modi also virtually inaugurated a revamped Vadnagar railway station where he used to sell tea during his childhood. Vadnagar in Gujarat's Mehsana district is also PM's hometown.

The event was attended by various dignitaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) including Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. 

While speaking at the event, Prime Minister hailed the day as the new identity of a new India.

"The day is a great symbol of the aspirations of 21st century India, the feelings and possibilities of young India. Be it science and technology, better urban landscape, or modern infrastructure of connectivity, today another link is being added to the identity of New India," PM Modi said.

After inaugurating the Aquatics Gallery built in Science City, PM Modi said that it is going to be even more enjoyable. "It is one of the top aquariums not only in the country but also in Asia. The sight of marine biodiversity from all over the world in one place is a wonderful experience in itself," he said.

"Horizontal and vertical expansion of Railways is important for development. The new Gandhinagar Station reflects a change in terms of infrastructure. It is proof of optimum utilization of modern technology, also resulting in employment opportunities," PM Modi added further.

PM also said that today image of India Railways and its reputation is improving. He said that speed, cleanliness and facilities have improved and even the speed of trains will increase further after the operationalisation of dedicated freight corridors in the days to come.

PM also praised Gujarat government for its handling of Covid-19 pandemic. "Gujarat govt managed the COVID crisis well. Treatment, tracking, and testing need to be in place to contain the spread. Likewise, it's important to speed up vaccination as well. Soon, the State will reach 3 crore vaccination target," he said.
