According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday, both India and Japan are eager to strengthen their relationship.
"India and Japan have multi-faceted cooperation within the ambit of their ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’. The Summit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in diverse areas as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest so as to advance their partnership for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond," reads the official statement.
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida will also seek to strengthen security and commercial relations with India.
It is expected that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will announce a plan to invest 5 trillion yen (USD 42 billion) in India over the next five years, according to media reports.
The 5 trillion yen target exceeds the 3.5 trillion yen investment and finance aim declared by then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during his 2014 visit to India, according to Japan's Nikkei newspaper.
Japan is actively assisting India in the development of urban infrastructure, as well as the construction of a high-speed railway based on Japan's shinkansen bullet train technology.
