PM Modi's All-Party Meet Today: Who Are Expected To Attend & Why Is The Meeting Different This Time?

Sources have revealed that Aam Admi party and Rashtriya Janata Dal have not been invited to the all-party meet on national security.

India-China Conflict: Amid tensions between India and China along the Line Of Actual Control in Ladakh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a meeting with the presidents of all the political parties of the country. The meeting will be a virtual one, keeping in view the social distancing norms due to Coornavirus pandemic and will be held at 5pm today (Friday). The meeting has been called to address the concerns raised by the opposition and also to deliberate on the road ahead regarding the China situation. Why is this all-party meet different this time? On border security issues, so far in the Modi government all-party meetings have been called twice in the last four years and this one will be the third one. The previous two meets were called in Modi 1.0 and was presided by the then Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The last one was convened in the wake of terror attack in Pulwama, on February 16 2019. Before that it was called on September 29, 2016, a day after surgical strike, in response to terror attack on army camp in Uri. However, this time Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself chair the all-party meeting It is also the first-time when PM Modi will address party presidents via video conferencing. Why the meeting has been called? Since the India-China War of 1962, the Galwan Valley face-off is the worst kind of border confrontation between the two countries. Opposition has raised several questions over the face-off and the government wants to take the opposition into confidence and resolve their doubts. RJD & AAP  not invited? Sources have revealed that Aam Admi party and Rashtriya Janata Dal have not been invited to the all-party meet on national security. Party presidents who may attend the meeting: Congress- Sonia Gandhi BJP: JP Nadda NCP:Sharad Pawar Shiv Sena: Uddhav Thackeray TMC: Mamata Banerjee DMK: MK Stalin JDU: Nitish Kumar BSP: Mayawati CPI: D Raja CPM: Sitaram yechury TDP: Chandrababu Naidu YSRC: Jagan Mohan Reddy LJP: Chirag Paswan Also Watch: Protests erupt pan-India against China, ready for large scale boycott |
