Why is this all-party meet different this time?
On border security issues, so far in the Modi government all-party meetings have been called twice in the last four years and this one will be the third one. The previous two meets were called in Modi 1.0 and was presided by the then Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The last one was convened in the wake of terror attack in Pulwama, on February 16 2019. Before that it was called on September 29, 2016, a day after surgical strike, in response to terror attack on army camp in Uri.
However, this time Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself chair the all-party meeting
It is also the first-time when PM Modi will address party presidents via video conferencing.
Why the meeting has been called?
Since the India-China War of 1962, the Galwan Valley face-off is the worst kind of border confrontation between the two countries. Opposition has raised several questions over the face-off and the government wants to take the opposition into confidence and resolve their doubts.
